IN-GAME MECHANICS

Through technological advancements, the developers of fighting games have implemented many features to make their games more approachable to a wide audience. One of the best features that is implemented across almost every fighting game that is produced nowadays is the ability to remap buttons. Being able to customize the layout of where things are on your controller is a big help to those who find the default layout weird or uncomfortable to use, and they are able to change it however they want to their liking, so they can pilot characters with the utmost efficiency. Another feature you might come across in some of the more anime/stylized fighting games is the autocombo, where you continuously mash one button, and your character executes a basic combo. This is great for new players learning the ropes and leads to learning and discovering how combos in a certain game function and how you can combo into other moves and make your own combos. The most infamous form of mechanical accessibility comes in the form of the Modern Controls feature present in Street Fighter 6, where it simplifies the inputs necessary to execute a special move and vastly lowers the skill and input ceiling needed to play well. This is a good idea on paper, but it has gained its infamy due to providing players who use it with unfair advantages.
